The Fair of Murcia is close!
As September draws near the Fair of Murcia, one of the biggest events of the city, comes with it. The festive atmosphere and its Schedule extends through the first two weeks of the ninth month, and institutes nowadays as the patronage party of Murcia in the Virgen de la Fuensanta’s honour. It is with her image’s arrival to Murcia from its Sanctuary of the Hill that the festivities start. It will be after two weeks of fair that the Virgen de la Fuensanta will be returned back to her Sanctuary of the Hill in a huge pilgrimage, coming the festivities of September to an end.
The fair has its roots in the middle ages, leaving marks of this times in the form of the cattle market and the craft stalls that encourages the tourists to buy hand-made products with great quality. The Fair of Murcia has been declared of National Touristic Interest in the year 2012 and it is, without a doubt, one of the biggest events of the city and the region. The main events of the Fair which more touristic interest could have would be:
